JOHN NEYLAND Obituary
John Farrell Neyland of Suffern, NY formerly of New York, NY passed away on June 24, 2008. A veteran of the U.S. Navy he was born on November 29, 1936 to Thomas Neyland and Alice Monteith, John was a man of great faith and principle. From humble beginnings, "Johnny Ney" emerged as one of the founding fathers of the convertible bond brokerage business on Wall Street. While he enjoyed an extremely successful career, his real passion was his family. He is survived by "his honey" Joan, married on January 13, 1973 which along with the births of his children he regarded as the greatest days of his life. Also survived by his loving children Leatrice and her husband Pat, Loralee, John and his wife Amy, Matt and his wife Maria and Tommy. There was no better father and husband and his children will miss him dearly. They will lean on the faith he instilled and the optimism he exemplified to help ease their enormous pain. He will be greatly missed by his brother Tommy and his wife Doreen, his sister Sheila and husband Jack, his sister Eileen and husband Dan and many nieces and nephews. John held a special place in his heart for grandchildren Patrick, Lauren and Emma and great-grandson Owen. They truly have a guardian angel watching over them. The emptiness left behind is only lessened by the example of faith, courage, generosity and love taught by one of the greatest men this earth has seen. He touched so many people in so many ways. We the survivors can only hope to make him proud until we see him again. Johns devotion to the Blessed Mother comforts us in knowing that she is watching over us and was there to greet him in Heaven. Friends and Family are invited to call Saturday June 28 and Sunday June 29, 2008 from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM at the Wanamaker & Carlough F.H. 177 Rt. 59 Suffern, NY 10901. A Funeral Mass will be held Monday June 30, 2008 at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church 47 Island Rd., Mahwah, NJ 07403 at 10 AM with his interment to follow at Ascension Cemetery Monsey, NY. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Hospital Urology Research. Condolences may be left for the family at www.mem.com. "Johnny Ney...What a guy".
