John Scherer Obituary

Scherer, John R.

John R. Scherer passed away peacefully at his longtime home in Carmel, NY at the age of 86. He is predeceased by his wife of 52 years, Mickey. To follow his path is his daughter, Barbara; son, John and wife Patty; grandchildren, Christian and his wife Melanie, Lizzy, John, Peter, Joe and great-grandson, Tyler.

John was a retired NYC fireman and carpenter. He was also a World War II veteran and Director of Veterans Affairs for Putnam County for 29 years.

Services are private. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Hospice of Putnam/Westchester or Alzheimers Organization or your local veterans office.
