Joseph D'Albora Obituary
Joseph J. D'Albora, a lifelong resident of Yonkers, passed away on January 13, 2017. He was 90 years old. Born to the late Giovanni and Amalia Biancheri D'Albora. Beloved husband of the late Marie, who pre deceased him in 2015. Loving father of Debra (Edwin) Ortiz, Joseph P. D'Albora and Robert J. (Carolyn) D'Albora. Dear brother of the late John D' Albora. Adored grandfather of Allana, Jason, Nicole, Liane, Robert, Casey and Brian and great grandfather of 8. Joe was a sergeant in the army during WWII. He was pitcher in the Old 7th Ward Softball League and was a former employee for 17 years at John Hancock Life Insurance Company. Joe was a member of the Westchester County and City of Yonkers Democratic party and a former 2nd Ward democratic leader. He was also a former mayoral candidate and later served as campaign chairman for Alfred DelBello during his successful run for Yonkers Mayor and County Executive. Mr. D'Albora was director of Westchester County Information Center under Alfred DelBello and deputy clerk of the county under Andy Spano during his reign as county executive. Joe was a founding member of the Yonk-Heers Club and a member of The Sierra Club. At his 90th birthday celebration Joe was awarded a City Proclamation for his outstanding service from Mayor Mike Spano. Arrangements entrusted to FLOWER FUNERAL HOME INC., 714 Yonkers Ave, with visitation Monday 2-5 pm and 7-9 pm. Funeral mass Tuesday 10:45 am at St. John the Baptist Church with interment to follow at St. Mary's Cemetery. www.FlowerFH.com.
