Joseph A. Polese

Thornwood - Joseph Polese 90, of Thornwood, N.Y. died on June 5 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Born on July 4,1929 in Mount Vernon, N.Y. to Albert and Jenny Polese, he was married to the love of his life, Ann Drake Polese for 60 years. Joe was a Line Officer and Executive Board member of the Union of Operating Engineers, Local 137, Briarcliff Manor, N.Y. and served as a communications expert in the U.S. Armed Forces during The Korean Conflict. In 2017 Joe as accepted into the Hudson Valley Honor Flight program and was flown, with fellow veterans, to Washington DC to tour monuments to their courage and to honor their collective sacrifice to our nation. With a true love-for-life Joe was an avid poker player who enjoyed playing golf and having a good meal out with family and friends. He is survived by his loving children; Joseph, Jr. and Michael Polese both of Thornwood, N.Y., Susan Polese and son-in-law Michael Toscano of North Salem, N.Y. as well as one cherished granddaughter Isabelle Magliari and her husband Andrew Jerome Mitchell of Queens, N.Y. Donations in Joe's name to Hospice & Palliative Care of Westchester, 1025 Westchester Ave #200, White Plains, NY 10604 would be greatly appreciated. A future Memorial Service in honor of Joe is being planned by his family. Date to be announced. A Private Family Entombment will take place at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Hawthorne, N.Y.
