Joseph Virag Obituary
Joseph C. Virag passed away peacefully at his home in Ossining, NY on September 5th with his wife and children by his side. Joseph was born on November 19, 1930, in Bronx, NY and is survived by his wife of 57 years, Ann and their seven children; Joseph (Monica) Virag, JoAnn Virag, Jeanmarie (Robert) Mullen, Jennifer (Adam) Schoelkopf, Jacqueline (Jason) Hoffman, Jessica (Michael) Piche, James Virag, and 12 grandchildren. A longtime resident of Ossining, Joseph was the owner of Millwood Hardware and Bedford Hardware before passing the stores on to the next generation upon his retirement in 2000. He spent his retirement expressing his creativity developing his yard and gardens and creating beautiful fountains and sculptural rain catchers. Having raised his family in the home that he built, he continued to enjoy renovating his children's homes when not relaxing in Florida. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to St. Christopher's Inn, Garrison, NY. The family will receive friends at Dorsey Funeral Home, Ossining, NY on Thursday from 4 PM to 8 PM. A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 10am, St. Theresa Church, Briarcliff Manor, NY. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Hawthorne, NY.
