LEONARD KIRSCH Obituary

Leonard Daniel Kirsch, age 78, of Jonesville, SC passed away on September 17, 2003 at Spartanburg Regional Hospital after a one year struggle with pancreatic cancer. He was born on September 19, 1924 in Newton, MA, the son of Raymond and Hazel Barkhouse Kirsch. Leonard served in the capacity of Corporal in the United States Army during World War II from February 1943 - December 1945 in the European Theatre. He was employed for 37 years with Marty Motors Corp., Mount Kisco and thereafter owned and operated Pawling Travel Agency, Pawling with his wife, Linda. He was a member and past president of the Pawling Rotary Club. He then lived in Falmouth, MA on Cape Cod for seven years and was a member of the Waquoit Congregational Church choir. He was also a choir member and leader of the Falmouth Senior Citizens choir group. He retired to Jonesville, SC in September 2002 with his wife. Leonard is survived by his wife, Linda; daughters, Lenora and Lawrence Bettcher, and Alicia and Edgar Posso; sons, Kevin and Anne Kirsch, and Eric Kirsch of Wappingers Falls; grandchildren, Jennifer Bennett, Kari Michalak, Kristopher Kirsch, Nikole Posso and Timothy Posso; and great-grandchildren, Ethan, Ryan and Kassidy Bennett. He is also survived by sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and many friends. Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, October 11, 2003 in the chapel of the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction, NY. Leonard's remains will subsequently be scattered in the ocean waters off the shores of Cape Cod. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Cancer Care, Inc., 275 Seventh Ave., New York, NY 10001 in memory of Leonard Daniel Krisch.
