It is hard to believe that that it is almost three years that this wonderful man and teacher is deceased. I was a sub teacher at Seward at the time and sub taught for him numerous times. He was well loved by his students, faculty and friends. May his soul rest in peace and his legacy live on with those of us who were privileged to know Mark. Blessings to his family. Fondly, Ted Walsh

It has been two years since your passing, Mark, and I think of you daily as I look across the hall to what used to be your classroom. I miss seeing you in the halls, and talking football. You are missed by all who knew you here at SS Seward. Until we see each other again Mark, love you.

My sincere condolences on the passing of Mark. I sub taught his morning classes on several days when Mark had morning Dr. appointments. He was very loved and respected by his students and all of us who were privileged to know him. May God bless his soul and his loving family.

I can still remember the day I interviewed Mark for a teaching position at SS Seward. He had completed his degree while working and was looking to secure his first teaching position. I also remember that he shared in our conversation the passing of his wife. Despite the loss of a loved one and the difficulty of working full time while studying for a degree, he was both positive and optimistic. I had the pleasure of recommending Mark for a teaching position knowing that he had pursued a dream and would work very hard to be an excellent teacher. He more than fulfilled my beliefs about his potential performance as a teacher. When I had the opportunity to stop by Seward he was always positive and spoke of his happiness in his chosen profession. I have followed the school district over the years even though my own career took me elsewhere. I was always so pleased to read in the Onion about the things Mark was doing to take his students beyond the walls of the classroom, encouraging them to participate in outside efforts and bringing social studies into the real world. I am deeply saddened that someone who loved teaching so much and worked so hard to be a good teacher will not be inspiring more and more children. I send my condolences to you, his family, to his colleagues at SS Seward who have lost a positive and contributing member of the faculty and to the students who enjoyed the privilege of being in his class. May Mark rest in peace and may those of you who loved him learn from his example that when life brings you sorrow you have within you the power and strength to accept your grief and envision a new dream and and work to its fulfillment.
