Marsha D. Brown

New Rochelle - Marsha D. Brown died peacefully at Montefiore Medical Center in the Bronx after a brief illness on Monday October 22, 2018. Educated in the Yonkers Public Schools, Marsha excelled academically resulting in being selected for the Upward Bound Program at Sarah Lawrence College and receiving a 4 year scholarship to Iona College. After a few classes, Marsha decided to attend Westchester Community College where she earned her Associates Degree in Business. She was later employed for 40 years with the County of Westchester where she worked for TASC, the County Budget Office and Playland Amusement Park. Marsha will be remembered for her friendly, engaging personality and her "Behind the scenes" work for the Boys and Girls Club of New Rochelle and the Remington United Flyers Track Program. Marsha is survived by her husband Walter Brown, daughters, Shani (G'Tayah), Eko and Sabiha; sister, Barbara (Paul); brothers Gregory and Preston Parker; maternal aunts, Catherine Carpenter and Barbara Braithwaite-Hazelton. In lieu of flowers, donations to the American Cancer Society or the United Flyers Track Team will be most appreciated.

Marsha was so much fun. Her sense of humor was a bright light during many tough times at DSS. I can't remember a time when she didn't have a ready smile and her assistance and support was always so appreciated. Marsha's family and friends were lucky to have her for the time they did. Please remember that as you grieve her loss.

Exceptional with numbers, she was equally adept at understanding people. A dear friend.

I met Marsha in the late 70's when we both worked for the Westchester County Dept. of Community Mental Health. She worked for TASC & i worked in Mental Health Clinic. She was a wonderful, delightful, bright and funny friend.

Marsha and her husband attended the wedding of my and my late husband. The last time I saw Marsha she was working for the Playland, and she had one little girl. Why I don't know, but we drifted apart I did hear from one time in the 1990's when I was working for another County Dept.

I am wondering what took her life, and pray that she R.I.P.'s.
