Mary and I would often have lunch together. The last lunch we had together was at Putnam Diner just before she died. We first met when she and I began teaching at Carmel High School. She walked through the front door, and I walked through the side door. We were friends until she died. She always smiled and made people happy. We often had lunch together after retirement and had lunch together at Putnam Diner just a couple of weeks before she died. As a young boy was going by our table, she stopped him and gave him a dollar.
