February 21, 2011

I was a tenant in Maureen's lovely three-family house in New Rochelle for nine years, until the fall of 2000. Maureen and Marty always welcomed me, then a single woman, into their apartment to chat and have tea, or maybe something a little stronger! Through the years of my caring for my father there until his death, and my subsequent meeting of and marriage to my husband, Mike, the Fahertys were like a second family to me.

Maureen and I stayed in contact over the years. Amid her numerous debilitating health issues and personal losses, she carried on bravely, thanks to the strong support of her family and her own indomitable spirit. She reaped what she sowed: the constant, loving care from the family she loved so much. I will miss you, Maureen. Rest in peace.
