Meridith Stevens Obituary

Meridith "Merrie" Stevens, a local music teacher in the North Rockland School District, Rockland County passed away peacefully on December 4, 2020 after a long and courageous battle with breast cancer at the age of 46.

Merrie attended North Rockland High School and majored in music at SUNY Potsdam-Crane School of Music and received her Master's degree from Hofstra University in 2003.

Merrie's love of music brought her to teach where she shared bringing the joy of music to so many students. Merrie's infectious smile and always positive outlook on life brightened the souls of all of those who knew her. Merrie loved game nights with family and friends, sand between her toes and the crashing of the waves at the beach.

Merrie is predeceased by her father Jerome Stevens, sister Amy Lynn Stevens, She is survived by her mother Daphne Stevens, her sister Shari(Bill) Drace, and brother James(Patty) Stevens. Merrie will be greatly missed by her niece and nephews Madison Drace, Joshua Drace and Zachary Stevens.

Due to COVID restrictions, a celebration of Merrie's life will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Meridith's name to United Women of Rockland, unitedwomanofrockland.com, Carol M. Baldwin breast cancer research fund, http://www.findacure.org or the NRHS Music Scholarship Fund.
