Michael Murphy Obituary
Michael John came to America in 1958 and settled in Holyoke, MA, then moved to New York, which he made his home, first in the Bronx, then Bronxville, and lastly in Bedford Hills. Michael John married Shirley Reilly, Binghamstown, Co. Mayo, in 1959 and they had seven children, Pat(Sharon), Mike, Maureen(James Butler), Denis, Edward, Ita(Kevin Brennan) and Erin(John Beirne), and 13 grandchildren, Serena Murphy, Gina and Douglas Murphy, Pierce, Niamh, Liam and Declan Butler, Lauren and Michael Murphy, and Dara, Kieran, Maeve and Molly Brennan.
Michael John worked for the Manhattan and Bronx Surface Transit Authority for 22 years and Lawrence Hospital for 10 years. Upon retirement Michael John loved to spend his time between New York and Cape Cod along with Shirley and his children and grandchildren. He was a good-hearted Irishman who loved life and laughter. May he rest in peace! Michael John will be waked at Cassidy-Flynn Funeral Home, 288 Main Street, Mt. Kisco, NY, Friday, August 4th, 2-4 and 6-8. The Funeral Mass will be at St. Mary of the Assumption, 55 Valley Road, Katonah, NY, on Saturday, August 5th at 10 am. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Michael John Murphy's name to Rosary Hill Home, 600 Linda Avenue, Hawthorne, NY. 10532
