MINNIE SAVA

Minnie Sava, 88, of Mt. Vernon, passed away peacefully at Calvary Hospital on August 8, 2008, after a short illness. She was born October 21, 1919 to Karl and Anna Miswick in Yonkers where she was raised and educated. Minnie worked as a bookkeeper for many years and was most proud of "keeping the books" for her two sons, who owned Cortina Wholesale Foods in Yonkers. She was a passionate reader, crossword puzzler and poker player and especially loved her dog Tiger. Survivors include two daughters: Lucia Gasparre, of Leesburg, FL, Minnie Cancellaro of Mt. Vernon, and two sons: Blaise Sava of Yonkers and Pat Sava of Mt. Vernon, and their spouses: Joseph Gasparre, Robert Cancellaro, Rosemary Sava and Jeanne Sava, 10 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and four great, great grandchildren. She was pre-deceased by her husband Pasquale Sava, who passed away in 1988 and her three siblings, Adam Miswick, Helen Herger and Alma Moore. Friends may call at the Sinatra Memorial Home, 601 Yonkers Ave on Sunday from 2-4 & 7-9 PM. Funeral and interment are private.
