AGE: 81 • West Nyack

On Thursday, December 22, 2016 Naomi G. Anthony (neé Naomi Graves) of West Nyack, New York passed. She was 81. Her peaceful transition took place at Nyack Hospital in the loving arms of her husband.

Naomi was born in Reedsville, N.C. on December 14, 1935. In 1958 she married John D. Anthony. They later moved to Rockland County where she worked as a Special Education teacher at B.O.C.E.S for over 30 years.

Often known for her magnificent soprano voice, Naomi performed internationally and and throughout the metropolitan area. She was a soloist for The Martin Luther King Singers and numerous choral groups. Naomi was a beloved wife, mother, teacher, author, storyteller and noted watercolor artist. Additionally, she was a devout member of St. Charles A.M.E. Zion Church in Sparkill, N.Y. Naomi is survived by her husband John, her daughter Jayon, son Arthur and grandchildren; Leon Thomas III, Nora Anthony, Naomi J. Anthony and Jayla Jones. She was loved and will be greatly missed.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 21, 2016, 11:00 a.m. at St. Charles A.M.E. Zion Church 432 Valentine Avenue Sparkill, N.Y. ph: (845) 359-3509.

Dear Mr. Anthony and family: Please accept my heartfelt condolences on the loss of your wife, Naomi Anthony. She was a wonderful, sweet lady with a beautiful and powerful soprano voice. I really enjoyed working with her and the other members of the Morning Music Club on our yearly Winter concerts. We will all miss her bright smile and sunny disposition.
