Nicholas Benyo Obituary
YONKERS - NICHOLAS BENYO, longtime resident of Yonkers NY, passed away on Saturday, December 19, 2020, on the Orthodox feast of St. Nicholas, at age 93.
Nicholas was born in Litnanova Czechoslovakia and came to the U.S. in 1946. He was educated locally and was a Baruch College graduate, only attending night school. He was an Army Veteran of the Korean War. Nicholas served as a Yonkers Councilman for six years in the 1960's. He worked at CBS and Montefiore Hospital before establishing Benyo Travel in Yonkers NY. He was also the founder of the United Slavonian League.
Beloved husband of Marika Benyo (nee Vargova). Devoted father of Nicholas Michael Benyo and step-father of Janka and Vlado Mudrak. Dear brother of Father Peter Benyo. He is also survived by 5 nieces and 2 nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Michael Benyo.
Visitation will take place on Wednesday, December 23, 2020, at St. Marys Carpatho-Russian Orthodox Church, 485 N. Broadway, Yonkers NY 10701, from 9AM to 10:30AM followed by a Funeral Service at the Church. Interment Oakland Cemetery.
