OLA CLEGG Obituary

Ola Mae Clegg, was born October 1, 1919 to the late Haynie and Hattie Sue Phillips in Lunnenberg County, Virginia. She departed this life on July 23, 2006 at the Eastchester Rehabilitation Center in the Bronx, New York. Mrs. Clegg was a resident of New Rochelle for 52 years. She was united in marriage to the late Merold T. Clegg, Sr. in 1942. She and her husband who was a Lieutenant in the United States Army during World War II traveled extensively around the United States. In 1949 she traveled to Europe where she resided for one year until 1950. Mrs. Clegg attended public schools in Blackstone, Virginia. She was employed as a technician for Sealectro in Mamaroneck until she retired in 1990. Mrs. Clegg was a member of St. Catherine A.M.E. Zion Church Class #12, in New Rochelle. Mrs. Clegg was an avid reader, she loved entertaining her family with summertime cookouts; family reunions; and holiday parties. She was a happy person always providing comfort to others. She is survived by her son, Merold T. Clegg, Jr. (Hyattsville, Maryland); her son, Karl W. Von Clegg, Sr. (New Rochelle, New York); her daughter, Karen W. Clegg, Esq. (Silver Spring, Maryland); her daughter Deborah D. Mills, Esq. (New Rochelle, New York); three sisters, Mary Elizabeth Patterson (Mount Vernon, New York); Mildred Eskridge and Beatrice Patterson (both of Georgia); two brothers, Haynie Phillips (Blackstone, Virginia); Lafayette Phillips (Georgia); thirteen grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She is predeceased by her husband and her daughter Joan Carter. Visiting will be held on July 29, 2006, 9:00 am at St. Catherine AME Zion Church, 19 Lincoln Avenue, New Rochelle, New York. Funeral Services to follow at 10:00 am.
