Patrick Murphy Obituary
Patrick Alden Murphy, 20, of Tappan, NY passed away unexpectedly on June 15, 2017 at home. Patrick was born in Ridgewood, NJ on 10/15/96. He was a student at Jesse J. Kaplan School in West Nyack, NY. Patrick was a very social, outgoing and happy kid who loved being with people and touched many lives. His big blue eyes and wonderful smile brought happiness to everyone he met. He loved his family, the beach and anything Yankees
Patrick loved a good joke and enjoyed 'supervising' any project. He was a Make-A-Wish recipient and met Derek Jeter and several other Yankees at Yankee stadium. His nurses Aurea and Mary, his long-time aide John, his teachers, therapists and doctors, and many others helped Patrick live his life to the fullest and provided him and his family with love and support. He possessed a strength, perseverance, and an ability to overcome many medical challenges that was truly remarkable. His impact on others was immeasurable.
Patrick is survived by his loving parents, Michael and Catherine, wonderful sister Caitlyn, grandparents Raymond and Marilyn Murphy of New City, Robert and Mary Boscher of Poughkeepsie, aunts and uncles Kevin and Hope Murphy, Brian Murphy and Susan Glover, Ray and Elena Murphy, Ken Boscher, Carol Boscher, cousins Kerri Murphy and Dan Hayden, Devin Murphy, Laura Murphy, Claire Murphy and Erica Murphy and many, many friends.
Visitation will be held Monday, June 19, 2017 from 4pm to 8pm at Joseph W. Sorce Funeral Home in West Nyack, NY. The funeral service will be Tuesday, June 20, 2017 at St. Catharine's Church, Blauvelt, NY at 10am with private cremation. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Make-A-Wish, Camp Venture or Jawonio.

I have had the pleasure of knowing Patrick since I started at Jesse Kaplan 9 years ago. When my job changed to the Kaplan pool I would often have the pleasure of swimming with Patrick. Just last swim class we had so much fun laughing and splashing! If you would have told me that was our last swim together I wouldn't believe you :/ Patrick had a way with people. He always brought the best out of them. He definitely always brought the best out of me. My thoughts and prayers go out to all of Patrick's family. Patrick, you will be so missed.

I had the pleasure of knowing Patrick from my job as a TA at Jesse Kaplan. I used to work in building 6 with him and when my job switched to the pool I used to swim with him often. Last week he had a great time with me in the pool! He always put a smile on my face and we would always laugh and joke around. I am in shock. My prayers are with Patrick's entire family. He will be so missed. Shine down always sweet boy ❤
