RAYMOND SHLORA Obituary

Raymond B. Shlora of Rye, New York passed away on May 30, 2008 at Greenwich Hospital after a short illness. Ray was born in Worcester, MA on January 14, 1918. He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years Clare (Heffernan) Shlora. Son of the late Walter and Helen Shlora of Worcester, MA and cherished father of Robert Shlora (Paula) of Alpharetta, GA; Joan Whipple (George) of Rye, NY; Nancy Donnelly (John) of Rye, NY; Marie Misisco (Matthew) of Harrison, NY. Devoted grandfather to David, Clare, Kate, Kelly, Jack, Billy, Matt, Sara and Alex. He is also survived by his two sisters, Ruth Hallinan and Clara Trinder of Worcester and many nieces and nephews. Ray was born and raised in Worcester, MA. He graduated from Worcester Polytechnic Institute where he was co-captain of the basketball team. He was a member of the Advisory Board and a Presidential Founder of W.P.I. Raymond was the former President and Chief Executive Officer of the HH BROWN shoe company based in New York City. He was a Knight of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem and parishioner of the Church of the Resurrection. Clare and Ray lived in Montreal, Canada from 1953-1972 where they raised their family before moving to Rye in 1972. Friends may call from 4-8PM on Monday at the William Graham Funeral Home 1036 Post Road in Rye, NY. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 on Tuesday at the Church of the Resurrection in Rye, NY.
