REDI WILLIAM RESK

REDI RESK Obituary

Redi William Resk, 88 years old, died in his home on Sunday, October 13. Mr. Resk was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina in 1914. He and his family arrived in New York in 1920 through Ellis Island, settling first in New York City and subsequently in New Rochelle. An engineering major at New York University, he enlisted in the United States Army in 1939 as a private. He served his country bravely for five years, participating in the Normany Invasion, the Battle of the Bulge, and the liberation of France as an officer in the field artillery. During this time he received a battlefield promotion to Lieutenant and was awarded the Bronze Star, and by the French government, the Croix de Guerre. After the war, he and his wife, Mary Dolores O'Neill, settled in New Rochelle. After some years as a professional photographer in New York City, he joined the family firm of Davis and Sanford. Their tripod manufacturing business grew and prospered under his leadership until its sale and his retirement in 1993. An extraordinarily active man with a quick and inventive mind, Mr. Resk was a lifelong Democrat and inventor. His most successful creation was the Redi-Lift tripod used by professional photographers worldwide. To Mr. Resk loyalty was not an abstraction. He unstintingly served his country, his family and his employees. Predeceased by his wife of 58 years, he is survived by two children, William of New York City and Maura Briggs of Massachusetts, six grandchildren, Caroline Weld, Patrick Resk, Amy Young, William C. Resk, Jessica Higgins and Nicole Resk, and five great grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, please send contributions in his name to the Saint Pius X Building Fund, 91 Secor Road, Scarsdale, NY. Visiting hours are Tuesday 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm at the Fox Funeral Home, Larchmont, NY. The funeral mass will be celebrated at Saint Pius X, 91 Secor Road, Scarsdale, NY, at 10 am on Wednesday, October 16. JOHN J. FOX FUNERAL HOME, INC 2080 Boston Post Road Larchmont, NY (914)834-0144
