RICHARD KOVALSKY Obituary

Richard Kenneth Kovalsky passed away suddenly on September 12, 2007 at home in Garnerville. He was 59. He was born on November 18, 1947 in Nyack, NY to the late Augusta and Vincent Kovalsky. He was a graduate of Haverstraw High School and attended Cheshire Academy in CT, where he played football. Upon leaving Cheshire, he joined the United States Marine Corps and served in Vietnam, where he was wounded and received a Purple Heart. On his return home, he joined the Roofers Union with his brother, Ronald and worked in NYC for many years until his retirement in the late 90s. He was a lifelong Haverstraw resident, who enjoyed watching football, walking around Rockland Lake with his brother, Dugan and hiking High Tor with his beloved dog, Oden. He was devoted to his children, Richard V., Adam F., and Kelly Kovalsky, who he loved dearly. He is also survived by his brother, Vincent Dugan Kovalsky and his wife, Arlene, of Andes, NY, sister, Ann Young of Newburgh; brother, Ronald of Sarasota, FL; sister, Sarah Kovalsky of Poughkeepsie, and many nieces and nephews. Richard was known by all as a "Good Guy" and loved by all who knew him. Friends may call on Sunday, September 16, 2007 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at T.J. McGowan and Sons in Garnerville. A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, September 17, 2007 at 11 AM at the funeral home. Burial to follow in St. Peter's Cemetery.
