ROBERT PHILIP BAUER M.D.

ROBERT BAUER Obituary

A most amazing, wonderful, beloved man died on Tuesday, July 21, 2009 at the age of 64. This is truly a loss for everyone and anyone who has ever been touched by him. Bob was the beloved husband of Karen (Obermeier); devoted father of Michael (Cathy Wittosch), Jennifer Rainess (Jeff). Adored grandfather of Jack and Morgan Bauer and Mac and Jake Rainess, who lovingly called him "GBob". Cherished brother to Carol Benderson-Lighter, Charles, Steven, and Jonathan and uncle to many nieces and nephews. Valued and beloved friend to many. Dr. Bauer, a founding doctor of Hudson Valley Eye Associates, loved being an ophthalmologist and was well respected among his peers. Devoted to his patients, Bob continued to work through his long illness because they brought him joy, as did his staff. He will be missed by all. We are most grateful for the love and support we have received during this time. Service to be held at Riverside Memorial Chapel, 21 West Broad Street, Mt. Vernon, NY at 9 AM, Friday, July 24th. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Lowe Center for Thoracic Oncology at The DanaFarber Cancer Institute, (44 Binney Street, Boston, MA 021156084) or Compassionate Friends (P.O. Box 3696, Oak Brook, IL 60522-3696).
