STUART SMITH Obituary

Stuart H. Smith, a longtime White Plains resident, died September 26, 2008 at the age of 75. He was born January 10, 1933 in the Bronx to William and Gladys Smith. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. On October 15, 1954 he married Rita Shroter in Germany. Mr. Smith worked as an engineer for Metro North for 40 years. He was also a decorated Auxiliary Police Lieutenant for the Village of Mamaroneck Police Dept for 35 years, and for the past 10 years he worked as a Park Ranger for the Village of Mamaroneck. Stuart was Past Commander of the American Legion Post # 90 in Mamaroneck and a member of the F.O.P. He was also an avid Police Patch collector and designer. Besides his wife Rita, he is survived by his children Stuart H. Jr. and his wife Christine of White Plains and Diane and her husband Brian Heubel of Hackettstown, NJ. His grandchildren Devon, Alexandra and Madeline Smith and his brother Wayne Smith and sisters Edna Eden and Eunice Clifford also survive. Visitation will be on Monday from 2-4 & 7-9 PM. Services will be held at the Trinity Lutheran Church in White Plains on Tuesday at 11 AM. In lieu of flowers please make donations the Hospice & Palliative Care of Westchester.
