SUE LAURO Obituary

Sue Lauro, of Yonkers New York, died Thursday, October 2, 2009, at Michael Malotz Nursing Pavilion, at the age of 96 after a long illness and will be sadly missed by her family. Mrs. Lauro was an avid Mets fan and "soap opera" enthusiast. She enjoyed camping with her husband and being visited by her children and grandchildren. Mrs. Lauro was born August 7, 1913 to Mary and Stanley Zaskey in Bridgeport, Connecticut. On September 30, 1935, she married Sebastian B. Lauro at the Holy Trinity Church in Hatfield, Massachusetts. The couple lived in New York City until 1941, when they moved to the Bronx. Since 1943, they lived in Yonkers. Mrs. Lauro worked 27 years for Sonotone in White Plains and Elmsford, New York, retiring in 1978. Mrs. Lauro is survived by her sons, Robert S. (Margie) and Richard A. (Sue), both of Patterson, NY, a daughter Karen (Frank) Yocca of McMurray, PA., a sister Florence of North Hampton, Mass., 14 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. Mrs. Lauro is predeceased by her husband Sebastian in 1996, her daughter Barbara Farinella in 2006, and her sister Helen and brother John. Visiting hours will be in the Whalen and Ball Funeral Home on Sunday October 4, 2009 from 2-4 & 7-9PM. A service will be held on Monday, October 5, 2009 at 10AM. Interment will follow at Kensico Cemetery, Valhalla, New York. In lieu of flowers, please make a contribution to the American Cancer Society.
