THOMAS CLEMENTE Obituary

Thomas Clemente, a longtime Pelham Manor resident died October 4, 1999 of cancer in his home surrounded by his loving family. He was 75. Born on May 9, 1924 in NYC to Elia and Josephine Bonconsiglio Clemente. He graduated from the Casey James School of Aeronautics in 1942. He later taught at LaGuardia Airport at the School of Aeronautics. Mr. Clemente was a veteran of the United States Army Air Force. He was a Technical Sgt. and was awarded for extraordinary achievement while serving as Top Turret Gunner during World War II. Mr. Clemente founded and built a successful family business, Underhill Wiping Cloth. He was with the company for 50 years. He was a respected member of the community for 38 years. He was the Cubmaster for CubPack I in 1964 in Pelham. He was an active member of the New York Athletic Club Yacht Club. He was a parishioner of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church where he helped start the girl's basketball program. He was a champion golfer at Island Dunes in Florida where he belongs to the hole in one club. He will always be remembered for his entrepreneurial spirit, wisdom, wit, and passion for flying, boating, and traveling. He is survived by his loving wife Elizabeth, 5 children Elia, T.J., Jody, John of Pelham Manor and Jimmy of Trumbull, CT, loving brother of Angelo, Catherine Guarneri, Rose Gallucci, Jean Federici and Elia (Mike) Clemente, 13grandchildren, Tom, Elizabeth, Elia, Jr., Matthew, Chris, Jamie, Mark, Emily, Jennifer, Schuyler, Blair, Sara and Christina. Thomas was predeceased by two brothers, Joseph and Peter and a sister Carmela Campese. Visiting at the Pelham Funeral Home on Saturday and Sunday 2-4 and 7-9pm. Funeral Mass Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, Pelham Manor, on Monday at 10am. Entombment to follow at St. Raymond's Mausoleum. PELHAM FUNERAL HOME 64 Lincoln Avenue, Pelham (914)738-1060
