VINCENT BADAGLIACCA Obituary

Vincent J. Badagliacca, a longtime resident of Irvington, passed away peacefully at home on June 7, 2007 at the age of 81. He was born in Paterson, NJ on August 23, 1925, the son of James and Lucy Casa Badagliacca. Mr. Badagliacca was a proud and patriotic member of "The Greatest Generation" - a veteran of World War II. On November 1, 1943, at the age of 19, he became a member of United States Marine Corps and served his country and the cause of freedom in the Pacific Theatre. Although he completed his active service on April 25, 1946, holding the rank of Corporal, he lived as a Marine all the days of his life. Thereafter, he began a forty-eight year career with Genesco, Inc., a retail apparel company, during which he became a Regional Sales Manager. Following his retirement in 1990, he served his community, and the young people he loved, as a school crossing guard. He was a parishioner of the Immaculate Conception Church in Irvington. He is survived by a loving and grateful family to which he selflessly dedicated his life's energy: his devoted wife of fifty-six years, Marie Battista Badagliacca; his daughters, Mary Anne Benedict of Somers, NY and Karen M. Greco (John) of Hawthorne, NY; his son, Vincent J. Badagliacca, Jr. (Lynda) of North Salem, NY, and his three cherished grandchildren, Melissa Anne Greco, John V. Greco, III, and Caroline Jill Badagliacca. He was predeceased by two older brothers, Peter Badaglia and Sebastian Badagliacca. Visiting hours will be at the Coffey Funeral Home on Saturday and Sunday from 2:00 to 4:00 P.M. and from 7:00 to 9:00 P.M. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at the Immaculate Conception Church, 16 North Broadway, Irvington, NY.
