WALTER A. APPELLE

Walter A. Appelle, a two year resident of Wappingers Falls and formerly of Yonkers, died April 27, 2000 at Vassar Hospital. Mr. Appelle was a Teamster with Local Teamsters Union 456, Elmsford for 20 years, retiring in 1983. Walter was also retired Chief Petty Officer with the United States Navy from 1942 - 1962. Walter was born in New York City February 2, 1921 to Walter and Elsie Stayskill Appelle. He was educated in the Yonkers Schools. On March 28, 1943 he married Margaret Mascenik in Yonkers. Survivors include his wife, Margaret; three children and their spouses, Walter and Veronica Appelle of Woodcliff Lake, NJ Linda and Eugene Pampalone of Wappingers Falls, Melany and David Negrin of Concord, MA; two brothers, Kenneth Appell of Ellicott City, MD and Howard Appell of Rochester, NY; four grandchildren, Walter Appelle, Brian Pampalone, Rene Appelle and Justin Negrin. He is pre-deceased by one brother, Harvey Appelle. Calling hours will be Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at Straub Funeral Home, Inc. 55 East Main St., Wappingers Falls. Funeral Service Monday, May 1, 2000 at 12:30 pm at the funeral home with the Reverend Sandra Mantz officiating. Burial at Wappingers Rural Cemetery.
