WILLIAM WANAMAKER Obituary

William H. Wanamaker, Jr., a life long resident of Rockland County, died at his residence in New City on Wednesday, September 8, 1999. He was 74. He was born in Nyack on January 18, 1925 to William H. and Anita Parietti Wanamaker. Mr. Wanamaker served in the Merchant Marines during WW II and also served in the Army during the Korean Conflict. After serving his country he joined the Laborers Local # 754 and for 18 years served as the business representative for the union. Mr. Wanamaker is a member of Empire Hook and Ladder Company #1 in Upper Nyack and of the Naurashank Lodge # 723 in Pearl River. He is predeceased by his wife, Margaret, who died in 1984. Mr. Wanamaker is survived by two sons: William A., of Bloomingdale, NJ and Joseph M., of New City; two daughters: Robyn Woltjen of Nanuet and Cindi Marie Wanamaker of Richmond, VA; his grandchildren: Marlee, Matthew, Erik, and Christopher; and two brothers, James of Piermont and Albert of Hallendale, FL. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday,September 11th at 10 AM at The Hannemann Funeral Home, Inc. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery. Visiting hours will be on Friday, September 10th, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm at the funeral home. The Empire Hook and Ladder Company # 1 will hold a special service on Friday evening at 7:30 pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mr. Wanamaker's memory can be made to Empire Hook & Ladder Company #1, 330 North Broadway, Upper Nyack, NY 10960.
