Anthony Augustine Adamo entered into eternal rest on Monday, Aug. 25, 2008 in Lancaster Calif., at the age of 82.
Tony was born in Hazleton, Penn. on January 22, 1926 to Joseph and Theresa Adamo. He attended Luzerne County schools and shortly thereafter entered the Navy with the onset of W.W.II. After his service to his country, Tony briefly entered the aircraft manufacturing business. With the allure of the "space race", Tony jumped at the opportunity to work in the aerospace business. After a storied career spanning 40 years, Tony retired from Lockheed/Martin with numerous awards and accolades in 1992.
Tony was a classic representative of the "Greatest Generation." His infectious sense of humor and an uncompromising sense of right and wrong will be dearly missed by all those, whose lives he touched. A devoted family man, he enjoyed years of fishing, camping and traveling. His greatest joy was his family and was a constant figure at his grandchildren's activities.
In addition to his beloved wife Irene, Tony was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers Augustine and Cosmo and his sister Rosemary MacDonald.
Tony is survived by his brother Jerry Adamo and his sister Connie Medeiros. He leaves behind his children Tony and his wife Laurie of Fresno, Arthur and his wife Karen of Palmdale, Donna Mercy and her husband Leo of Lancaster and his son Bob of Lancaster. Survivors include 17 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
Tony's family would like to express their appreciation to the staff at Merrill Gardens and Pillsbury Annex Board and Care for their kindness and support.
A memorial service honoring Tony's life will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Sept. 20, 2008 at Joshua Memorial Park, 808 E. Lancaster Blvd., Lancaster, Calif.
