I was saddened to read about the passing of Dan. I extend my condolences to his family.
I first met Dan and Vera around 1978 or 1979. I was working with the Employment Development Department, and I transferred from Fresno to the Santa Maria office. At that time Dan was working as a Veterans Employment Representative in the Santa Maria EDD office. He invited me to his home and told me to let him know if there was anything I needed. I remember I was once building some sort of wood frame at work, to help with our filing system, and he offered to loan me some of his tools. As I look back, he must have liked me as some men do not like to loan out their tools.
Dan was always very professional at work, doing his best to help his fellow veterans find employment or inform them of benefits and or services available to them. I enjoyed working with Dan during the 4 years I was in Santa Maria.
As I recall he was very opinionated about some stuff. I would venture to guess this continued after his retirement as his obituary indicated he prayed for the "damn stupid jerks" of the world to be held accountable for spreading so much hate and suffering. He probably gave you an earful about some of our past elected officials.
Although he is no longer with you, he has left you with fond memories. May he rest in peace.

May loving memories bring you peace, comfort, and strength. Those who pass on, God keeps in his memory because they are precious in his eyes. My sincerest condolences. (Psalms 116:15)
