Lee Pledger of Santa Maria, CA went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 28th, 2012. She was 51 years old. She is survived by her parents, Robert and Shirley Meyers, husband Tony Pledger to whom she was married to for 32 years, daughters Allison Pledger and Amy Taylor, and grandchildren Aiden and Carson Heath and Emma Taylor.
Lee Pledger spent the majority of her life in Santa Maria and attended local schools. She served the past 25 years of her life teaching gymnastics throughout the Central Coast. She has spent the past 15 years teaching gymnastics on Vandenberg Air Force Base, where she became the Program Director of the gymnastics program for the past 7 years.
Lee Pledger was passionate about her work and produced a substantial number of state gymnastics qualifiers and champions throughout her career. She also worked with the Special Olympics in Santa Maria for many years.
She incorporated her love for the sport of gymnastics with her love for the church. She has spent the past 5 years serving at Church for Life in Santa Maria. She is best remembered for her infamous bell ringing for the Salvation Army with her gymnasts performing back flips alongside her, which may have been seen at our local grocery stores throughout the Christmas holiday season.
Lee was energetic, spunky and fun-loving- and was even known to dress her car up as Rudolph the Reindeer at Christmas time and leave it displayed for many months beyond. She was unique and gifted and touched the lives of many young aspiring gymnasts as well as people throughout this community who knew her.
She will greatly missed by all, especially to her 3 grandchildren who referred to her as their "Nanna". She may not be with her loved ones and those who cherish her memory in a physical sense, but her legacy will live on.
Services will be held for Lee Pledger on Wednesday, April 4th, 2012 at 1 p.m. at Church For Life located at 3130 Skyway Drive #501, Santa Maria, CA 93454. Refreshments will be provided after the service.
Arrangements are under the direction of Dudley-Hoffman Mortuary, Crematory and Memory Gardens.
