Louis Nacke Obituary

On what would have been Louis J. Nacke's first wedding anniversary, he was feted with his favorite food and wine by the family he left behind.

"He would have wanted us to do it this way," said Nacke's father-in-law, Robert Weisberg. "It was very poignant, and we will always remember him."

Nacke, 42, of New Hope, Pa., was killed when United Airlines Flight 93 crashed in rural Pennsylvania. Nacke and his wife, Amy, had been living with Weisberg while they waited for their home to be built. Their first wedding anniversary was Sept. 16.

Nacke was a voracious weightlifter and "proactive" guy who oversaw operations at a K-B Toys warehouse in Clinton, N.J. He was on the plane headed for San Francisco on business on Sept. 11.

"He really didn't want to go and wasn't much of a flier--maybe two or three times a year," Weisberg said. "The timing was just unbelievable. You just want to turn back the clock."

You and all the other's who died that day have been on my mind a lot recently. Nearly 24 years later, and the imprint you left on this life is still here. You're with us when we hear a Billy Idol record, you're with us every Sunday when we watch the Pittsburgh Steelers (who you would not be happy with lol), and even though I have only ever seen you in pictures, I see you every time I look at your grandson, even when I look at my brothers, who as they get older, start to look more and more like you.

Words cannot explain how much the people left behind miss you, and always will. From your family and the parts of family that we share, to your friends, even down to me and my brother, who were not old enough to remember or get to know you properly, will always remember your life, your passion and love for it and those around you. And the sacrifice you made that horrible day, which I can promise will never be forgotten.

I relish when my Mom tells stories about you, varying from your domination of the softball field, to her and you going to the Allentown fairgrounds to see Rod Stewart and Elton John when she was expecting Lou to so many other good times you all had together, but one that particularly sticks out to me is a story from when me and my twin were infants, our shoes were either ratty, or not on our feet, which prompted you to ask my Mom if she needed you to get us some. It was showing of who you were as a person, and foreshadowing your actions on your final day. You were willing to help out other's when you had no obligations to, as we weren't your children. But even though it was small gesture, the kindness and love that radiated from it still resonates with me to this very day, even if I can't remember it.

I wish there was more to say that hasn't already been done so and I wish I could write more without welling up in tears, but it gives me comfort knowing that your father and Philly (Grandma Nacke) are both with you now, and one day by the glory of God, you three, your wonderful siblings, my brothers, and nephews, my mom and us all will be able to meet again and for the first time in Heaven.

John 15:13 - Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.

RIP. Forever in our hearts, minds and prayers.

I say a prayer every year for Mr Louis Nacke on 9/11 By a twist of faith I worked for the K.B. Toy co in the Poconos of Penn when our warehouse was closed I decided not to take the transfer to the N.J.facility. Who Knows what could have happened. R.l.P. Mr Nacke

My best friend happens to be buried in Valley Forge National Park, you are buried next to him.
It inspired me to go to Shanksville at the memorial and learn more about you and the other "Heroes".
I wrote a poem called "MY SPIRIT LIVES" that I wanted to share with your family. If any family member or friend reads this, please email me at [email protected]. I know all of you will enjoy it. I brought copies up to Shanksville and gave many copies to the relatives and would want Louis's family to have one to.

First of all, I want to say thank you for what you did on September 11, 2001. Also, my school raised $2,408.30 to help build you and the other passengers a permanent memorial. Our grade got to embark on a non forgettable adventure to Hershey, PA. On the way there we met your brother, Kenny, at 7 springs resort. He spoke about you and what you did, Again thank you. We then went to the Flight 93 memorial. So many emotions went through all of us as we looked at the American flag that was placed where the plane went down. We will never forget your bravery!! Soon you and your fellow passengers will have a beautiful, respected, permanent memorial. You all deserve it. R.I.P

Dear Patti, Louis and Joseph - As usual on this day my thoughts and prayers are with you. The children today were asked to wear red, white and blue to school for Patriot's Day. When my husband and I asked them what Patriot's Day was, they said, "That's when the war started." It seems like such an over-simplified explanation...I wonder that we'll ever be able to convey to them the terror we all felt -- the families of the victims more than anyone. Again, my thoughts and prayers are with you, today and always.
