Carolyn Simons Obituary
Born in January 1943 to Esther and Richard W Rush, she spent her years growing up and attending school in Binghamton and Vestal, NY. After graduating from Broom Tech Community College with a degree in dental hygiene, she married Stevens Simons and the relocated to Arizona while he finished his bachelor's program at the University of Arizona before returning to New York. The family moved to Massachusetts and Carolyn started her own business, Paper Dolls, a paint and wallpaper company. The family moved to Florida and eventually to Virginia, where Carolyn continued her business and ran it for many years.
Always the sports fan, she spent many years in a bowling league, never missed a Nationals game, loved college football and golf. Carolyn was always very involved with her church(s) over the years, holding many positions in lay leadership.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her husband, Stevens Simons, her parents, Esther and Richard W Rush, and her brother, Richard C. Rush.
She is survived by her children Pamela Simons and her son Steven Simons, his wife Michelle, her sister Lucinda Copp (Glenn) and sister Priscilla Olmsted. Carolyn is also survived by her grandchildren Corley Simons, Gretta Simons, and Jordan Simons along with several great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Services will be held on February 23, 2023 at 11 am at Round Hill United Methodist located at 11 W Loudoun Street, Round Hill, VA. followed by a private interment.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Carolyn's name to Capital Caring Hospice by visiting capitalcaring.org.
