Esther Laver Obituary

Esther T. Laver, 91, passed away peacefully on August 15, 2025.

Born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, on November 29, 1933, to Heath and Dorothy White, Esther spent her childhood between Buenos Aires and Leesburg, Virginia, during World War II. She graduated from the American School in Buenos Aires.

In July 1955, Esther married Colin "AC" Laver in Cape Cod, Massachusetts. Soon after, they settled in Los Angeles, where Esther worked in the Rams' front office and Colin established an accounting practice. By the early 1960s, they made their home in Manhattan Beach, raising three sons: Chris, Marc, and Colin.

In the late 1970s, Esther earned her college degree from California State University, Dominguez Hills. While living in Santa Barbara, she and friends started a Literary Tapes business, reflecting her love of learning and service. She later lived in Leesburg, Half Moon Bay, Cambria, Santa Rosa, and Sacramento, building community and friendships wherever she went.

Esther cherished her role as a mother and grandmother. She is survived by her sons Chris (Theresa), Marc (Linda), and Colin (Valerie); her grandchildren Carolyn, Brittney (Vincent), Harrison, and Paige; and her great-grandson Marlo James. She was preceded in death by her parents, Heath and Dorothy; her brothers, Ben and Lige; her former husband, Colin; and her grandson Jonathan.

A Celebration of Life will be held in Leesburg, Virginia. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to George C. Marshall International Center.
