Roger "Frank" Myers III

1952 - 2024

Roger "Frank" Myers III, of Purcellville Virginia, left this world to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on January 18th, 2024. He is survived by his wife, of 37 years, Nancy C Myers of Purcellville Va. His brother James Myers of Bunker Hill WV. His brother Thomas Myers and wife Sandra of Saratoga Springs, New York. Their daughter, Jessica Myers of Savannah Ga. Thomas's son, Nathan Grise Myers and wife Becca of Portland Or. Stepson Carl Long of Harper's Ferry 5 grandchildren and 3 great grand children Frank was predeceased in death by his parents Roger and Dorothy Myers, His sister Judith Leroy Two stepsons Fred and Teddy Long Frank grew up in Loudoun County and made this his home for life. He had multiple jobs around the county throughout his lifetime. He was most proud of the 26 years he spent working at Nichols Hardware in Purcellville. This was his second home. A place where no one was a stranger, and everyone was a friend in need. He was most proud of his ability to cut keys for people when no one else seemed to be able to get them done right. Or to know exactly where that little weird thing a ma bob was located. His desire to help people was a driving force in his life. Frank was a very quiet gentle man. He never tried to be in the spotlight or let anyone know of his struggles. He just hung out in the shadows and did whatever he could to make the world a little better for someone else. We would like to share a little personal information about Frank that only close friends and family knew. Frank was traveling in a car at 18 when he was broad sided by another car that ran a stop sign. He spent 21 days in a coma, No one was sure he would ever regain consciousness but with God's help he did. After a lengthy recovery it appeared that maybe he had escaped the worst. But at age 25 he developed seizures as a result of the accident. The seizures forever changed and controlled his life. For the next 46 years he tried to live every day as anyone else does but he never knew when that next seizure would happen. He spent all of his life searching for a medicine or a surgery that would help stop them. Specialist after specialist. Every new medicine that came out regardless of the side effects was prescribed to him with no effect. Even surgery couldn't help. In 2019 because of this condition Frank was forced to retire from Nichols Hardware. That was the one thing that finally broke his spirit. He spent the next 4 years either on the couch or in the hospital. He never complained or talked about it but if you really knew him you understood. By sharing this story, we hope everyone remembers what a huge responsibility driving has. That even the smallest distraction or mistake while driving can cause catastrophic effects and change not only your life but also possible the life of an innocent person who just happens to be in your path. So please remember Frank's story and pass it along to others when you see someone driving reckless or distracted. This same thing can happen to any of us. Funeral services for the family are to be graveside at Union Cemetery in Leesburg Friday Jan 26th, 2024, at 12pm.
