Arthur Smith Obituary

SMITH, ARTHUR K., passed away Wednesday, November 14, 2007, at Baptist East Hospital. He was born in Louisville on July 12, 1923. His parents were Arthur H. Smith and Cora King Smith. He was a graduate of Male High School and the University of Louisville, and he served in the United States Air Force in Italy during World War II. Arthur will be remembered for his enthusiastic love of life, and his strong work ethic. He was the founder and president of Smith's Furniture and Appliance Co. He was devoted to the community of Louisville, and was involved in numerous civic organizations and charities. He was also a member of Second Presbyterian Church. Arthur was preceded in death by his brother, Kenneth F. Smith; and his former wife, Linda Wiseman Smith. He is survived by his first wife, Mildred M. Smith; his daughter, Marlene Bajandas; his granddaughter, Laura Arrington Bajandas; his grandson, John Bajandas (Natalie); and great-grandchildren, Olivia, Francisco and Diego. The family expresses our gratitude to all his caregivers. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday at Pearson's, 149 Breckenridge Lane. Friends and family are invited to a visitation from 1-3 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. on Sunday, at Pearson's. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Home of the Innocents.
