Clara Gruneisen Obituary
Louisville - Clara Gene Dumstorf Gruneisen, 85, died Tuesday, June 5th. She was born November 1, 1932 to the late Bernard and Beatrice Dumstorf. Clara Gene was a 1951 graduate of Loretto High School and longtime employee and volunteer at John Paul ll/St. Barnabas Catholic School cafeteria. A devout Catholic, she spent countless hours serving wherever she saw a need, including Sister Visitor, Hildegard House and Dare to Care Kid's Café.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years Caryl K. Gruneisen, Sr. and her brother Gerard Dumstorf.
Left to cherish her memory are her brother Thomas Dumstorf (Colette), in laws Edith and Jim Gruneisen, sisters-in-law Jean Gruneisen and Sherry Dumstorf, sons C. Kevin, Jr. (Lisa) and Joseph Gruneisen (Nancy), daughters Therese Kuddes (Kevin), Kathleen Emly (John) and Agnese Smith (Dan) 16 Grandchildren and 2 Great-Grandchildren.
The funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, June 11th from St. John Paul II Catholic Church, Hikes Lane Campus, followed by burial in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. Sunday at Ratterman and Sons, 3800 Bardstown Road. There will be two prayer services Sunday, one at 3:30 p.m. and the other at 7 p.m. with eulogy.
Memorial gifts may be made to Team Caroline JDRF or the CK and Clara Gene Gruneisen Memorial Fund. Online condolences may be left at www.ratterman.com.
