I only recently learned that Danny had passed. I knew Danny years ago when he was best friends with my husband Bob. I remember Danny as a fun-loving and caring individual--he and Bob had many wonderful times together. Bob died many years ago and I lost touch with Danny over the years, hearing about him only occasionally, through friends. Danny will be in my memory always as young, with a full head of dark hair and sometimes a big bushy black beard, and a big, infectious laugh. He was a really special person. My deepest sympathies to all of Danny's family.

I would like to pay tribute to my mentor.I went to work Danny as apprentice carpenter/lather in 1985 at the ripe old age of 28,one year older than Danny.I was as green & naive as they came!! My first day on the job was to help Danny build a scaffold 40' high.He taught me how to walk, talk & listen or else.
Danny was known as the BEST scaffold builder in town,a trade I understood he learned from his Uncle Eddie when he was very young.I took all of his teachings to heart, after all he was the best!!
Danny & I went on to do many construction projects together. From Keeneland racetrack to to the east end of Louisville,to Toyota of Georgetown,to downtown Louisville, there are not to many places that you you can walk without stepping in his footprints.
After N.J.Schnurr went out of business,I was very fortunate to stay in construction,& be succesful.I have often had collegues ask me where I learned that little trick or that technique,it was usually Danny.
So from one rude, crude construction dude to another,I will always have our memories.
Walt & Sue I would love to hear from you ([email protected]

Donna,
My first encounter with Dan was at the ABF Christmas party when he took my GREEN NATIVE statue to give to your dad. In fact, Joe Donaldson's daughter had it up until Dan snatched it from her hands (Joe was grateful). Dan's humor, spirit, and tenderness were what first drew me to him. Then I saw the way he loved you . . . and well, then that was all it took. He was going to be a friend for life! I will look forward to seeing him the other side of eternity. He sure shined with the eyes of the Lord. :)
Now you . . . you have been the best example I have ever witness to pure, servant's hearted love. You have demonstrated what Jesus spoke to Peter about at the end when He asked him the 3rd time "Peter, do you love me?" Donna - I am so honored to have know both of you. I pray our friendship will continue because I have much to learn from you.
With much Love!
Dottie

Donna, my thoughts continue to be with you. Dan fought a tough battle and endured so much suffering. He was truly blessed to have you by his side. Find comfort in your faith that he is in a better place and that one day, you will join him. Until that day, treasure time you had together and the love you shared.

Dear Donna and the entire Schnurr Family,
We feel so priveleged to have known Dan, even for such a short time. We will continue to hold you in our prayers. Your tribute to him was beautiful. What a blessing that he was in the arms of his loved ones here before resting in the arms of Jesus.
Love to you all..Amanda, Matt and Nathan

I had the priviledge of working with Dan for 4 years and then got to stay in touch with him when I transferred to another department. I'll always cherish the day Donna brought him in to sign paper work and he stopped by my cubicle to tell me he was leaving. Even in his pain, he was thinking of others. May his family find comfort in knowing he is whole again and pain free!! I'll see you again my friend.

Dear Schnurrs...I am so sorry for your loss. I know from a sibling standpoint how difficult this is. Dan was always so full of life and smiles, I know he will be missed. Faith is what brings us through times like this and it sounds like Dan was full of faith. I know he is in a better place. Take care and know that my thoughts and prayers continue to be with all of you. Love, Jude Muller Barrineau (Columbia, SC)

To the entire Schnurr family, I hope you can find peace. I went to St. Albert's with many of the Schnurr's, but I didn't really know Dan until he installed several JCPS computers for me at Atherton. We had fun remembering the "good old days"...how Dan's Dad sported a flat-top and screamed at all the football games. Being a Neuro-cancer survivor myself, this is hard news. I only wish I could have sent my inspiration to Dan. You are in my prayers.

Our hearts go out to the entire Schnurr family. Getting to know Dan and Donna in a special way at Southeast was yet another blessing that the Lord seems to bestow on me each and every day. The memory of watching him baptize Emma surfaces every time I think of him. I guess God knew since he was bringing him home early in his life, he sent Donna to share his final years. And what a gift she is! He deserves to walk.....or perhaps RUN....on those streets of gold. We will miss your smile. "Well done good and faithful servant"

I was very sad to hear of Dan's recent passing. Dan and became friends in the Southeast Christian Divorce Recovery Group. Dan was an uplifting and caring person in this group. His love of his children was always clearly evident in everything. He is with his saviour now and is walking on streets of gold. Till we see each other again. I love you friend.
