Dorothy Harrett Obituary

HARRETT, DOROTHY SAME, 93, of Jeffersonville, IN, formerly of Louisville, passed away Sunday, May 23, 2010.

She was retired from the Jefferson County School Board, was a member of Zion United Church of Christ in Louisville for 50 years, attended St. Luke's United Church of Christ in Jeffersonville, and was a charter member of PSI IOTA XI Sorority.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, George Gilbert Harrett; sister, Katherine Oakes; and brothers, Robert and William Same.

Survivors include her children, Mary Ann Jenkins (Stuart) and Charles Edwin Harrett (Linda); four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sister, Martha Ann Frame; and brother, Donald Eugene Same.

Funeral service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday at Arch L. Heady-Russman & Sons Funeral Home and Cremation Services with interment to follow in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. Wednesday.

Memorial contributions can be made to St. Luke's United Church of Christ, 329 Walnut St. Jeffersonville, IN 47130 or to PSI IOTA XI Sorority c/o Karen Scrogham, 4221 Cutlisf Dr., Louisville, KY 40218, which provides scholarships for students entering the field of speech and hearing. Mrs. Harrett was the kindest person ever as she worked with staff and students at TJHS. She was a role model for so many and our lives were enriched by knowing her. Our prayers are with you and your family at this time.
