Dorothy Mullane Obituary

Dorothy Mullane

Louisville - Dorothy "Dottie" Mullane. Beloved wife, mother, grandmother ("Gram") and friend to many, passed away peacefully on June 19, 2021.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Clifford and Mary Alice Byerly and three sisters; Jeanne (John) Lechleiter, Peggy (Bill) Gillespie and Joan (Don) Daunhauer.

Dottie was born on February 26, 1933. She attended Presentation Academy as well as Spalding College, graduating with a bachelor's degree in early childhood education. During her school years she made several good friends who remained close throughout her life and brought her great joy.

In 1954 she married the love of her life, John "Jack" Mullane after completion of his volunteer service in the U.S.A.F. Together they raised four girls. A talented homemaker and loving mother, Dottie was also active in the community serving as a member of the Queen's Daughters, Louisville Women's Club and St. Vincent De Paul Society; and volunteering with her sister, Joan, as a Meals on Wheels driver. While raising her family, Dottie successfully battled cancer three times, facing each challenge with courage, prayer and a positive outlook.

Dottie is survived by the love of her life and husband of 67 years, Jack; her sister and brother-in-law, Nancy and Bill Hathaway; sister-in-law, Peggy Mullane; daughters Anne Braun (Keith), Nancy Berry (David, deceased), Amy Soergel (Eric) and Jeanne Oliver (Phillip) and their respective families (which include nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild); as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be 3pm-8pm Thursday, June 24, 2021 at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Rd. Funeral Mass will be held at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 501 Cherrywood Road 10 am Friday, June 25, 2021.

In lieu of flowers please consider a contribution to the Little Sisters of the Poor or the Jeanne Byerly Lechleiter Endowment at the Catholic Education Foundation. The family extends its deepest thanks to everyone who contributed to Dottie's long and blessed life.
