My deepest sympathies to Mrs. Carlisle and the family.
Mr. Carlisle was my P.A.D teacher at Southwest Christian H.S.
I recall many days my wrist hurting from taking notes and keeping my binders organized. He always had a great personality and his jokes hillarious. Making class not just educational yet fun as well. He was a treasure chest full of Knowledge and he inspired many of his students as well myself to not complain about issues but how to figure out solutions and research. He is the one man who changed my life and planted the seed for my LOVE of History and Gov't that continues still this day. You will be Greatly missed sir and YOUR legacy remains in ALL our hearts Forever. -Jimmy Katchur (Cpl. U.S.M.C. 1995-1999)

I remember so many wonderful things about Mr. C - where do I begin. Southwest Christian School my junior year U. S. History 1984. It was our first year in our "real" school building and I walked into his class and I clearly remember there were three full sized chalkboards EACH full of notes! I could not believe it and yet he started class with a chuckle and said "begin taking notes" - we only had a few minutes until he would erase one board and begin filling it up again! That went on the entire class period. I thought this cannot go on all year and yet it did! We did not have "advanced" labeled classes then but I guarantee this U. S. History course would have made an AP class look easy! I told him after I went to college that I did not have any teacher more challenging than him for my first two years. He LOVED that compliment. As a high school educator myself for 24 years, I am thankful for the sacrifices that he and Mrs. Carlisle made for students like myself to have a great Christian education to start me off ready for adulthood. YOU my friend Mr. C will always be one of my favorite teachers!

Mr. Carlisle was by far one of my favorite teachers in high school. I have never been pushed so hard by a teacher to believe in myself and to not give up. He gave us the tools to succeed in school and great life lessons. His passion for teaching was evident and he genuinely cared about every student that walked through his classroom. I never knew that class trips could be so educational and fun all at the same time. He will be greatly missed and he leaves a great legacy behind!

Mr. Carlisle was one of my favorite teachers at Ninth & O and he's the reason I continue to love history. We all had to take pages and pages of notes, but he made it so interesting. I finally threw away all those notes 10+ years after graduation. I will miss you, but I will cherish those high school memories.

Mr. Carlisle was my favorite teacher at 9th & 0. I received an award at graduation from him for having the highest social studies GPA throughout high school. Such a kind and dedicated teacher he inspired me to become an educator. His unwavering faith in God despite his illness was also inspiring. The last time I saw him was at my doctors office where he told me he had recently been in the hospital. There was such a weariness in his voice. I am so sorry he had to leave us so soon, but I know where he is and that he will never be sick again. RIP Mr. Carlisle. You were one in a million.

I am so sorry to hear about this. Mr.Carlisle was a great teacher. He was my favorite teacher in high school. My senior year I got to go to Washington DC, Williamsburg Virginia, Monticello, and Baltimore for a U.S History and Government trip. It was very educational and won't be forgotten. Trips like that are only possible when a teacher truly educates. He also taught Economics and really equipped his students to be informed and to stand on their own two feet when it came to finances. Mr. Carlisle will truly be missed but never forgotten. I'm just hoping that more educators will be like him in really teaching their students to be ready for the world.
