I went to Liberty Grade school with Tom, He always had a smile and good word. I remember we had our 8th grade graduation party at their farm in Wesport.

I knew Tom thru his marriage to my college best friend & roommate, Mary Sigmon Freeman. I enjoyed visiting them a few times in SC, but more recently in Lexington. He was charming & boyish & a gentleman. My thoughts & prayers go out to all his family, but especially Mary who I know shared many adventures w/ him.

I worked at Whayne like Tom and knew him. He was a very good man and one of the best salesmen in the company. I'm so sorry to hear of his passing. He will be missed by all who knew him. Our prayers are with his family.

Barbara and LuAnn, Tommy was a very kind person, and I always thought a lot of him. He had a great personality and an endearing smile. I saw him about a year ago at my brother's (Dick Meers) memorial service. I told him at that time how much he had always meant to me and to please give both of you my best when he talked with you. It was easy to tell how proud he was of both of you. My deepest sympathy and prayers are with you.

Cousin Tom was a delightful mix of Tom Sawyer & Huck Finn rolled into one bundle of devilment as a kid! My young brother, Rich, sisters Dixie & Mary Nell & I spent many weeks on the Goshen farm during the summers when we were growing up. Luey, Babs & the 4 of us would leave the house after breakfast following our leader, Tom, on adventures roaming the hills in search of Indian arrowheads and any evidence of Native American petroglyphs. Arrowheads we found, rock carvings, maybe; just below the front of the house, following a path down to the "bottoms" was a large rock with what looked like markings of some sort. Real or imagined? I like to believe the latter. The most memorable adventure was the day Tom hooked up the white horse to a wood sled (no wheels); all seven of us piled on, Tom held the reins as we raced across a field, squealing all the way UNTIL we collided with a fence post sending all of us tumbling to the ground. No injuries except to the steel harness ring that cracked apart. It had to be secretly replaced somehow, so Tom decided to drive (at 13 yrs. old) to La Grange to buy a new one while the rest of us kept Aunt Lu & Mother occupied. No such luck; we were found out and Tom got the blame, as usual. We all agreed it was great fun and worth the aftermath. Thank you, cousin Tom for you marvelous sense of fun. Hopefully, you'll continue to make mischief on the "other side," and I'll gladly join you. Love, cousin Geri

Tom was a wonderful, generous cousin. I remember when I was six years old and Tom was fourteen, He put me on one of the family horses at the farm in Westport. First time I had ever been on a horse. Many other fond memories in addition to that!
