Mason, George R.,

George R. Mason, age 81 of New Castle, passed away Thursday, December 29, 2016. Son of the late Robert Reese and Martha Gray (Foree) Mason, he graduated with a degree in Agriculture Economics from the University of Kentucky. George was the former President of New Castle United Citizens Bank where he served on the board of directors since 1960, and was the former President of New Castle Cemetery. George was a farmer, banker, and real estate broker. He was a member of the New Castle Lion's Club for over 50 years and was a member of the New Castle United Methodist Church. George was preceded in death by a brother, Reese Foree Mason.

He is survived by his Wife, Nina (McCoun) Mason of New Castle; Daughters, Dianne Brammell (Jim) of New Castle & Martha Hill (Randy) of Winder, Georgia; Sons, Robert Mason of New Castle & George Mason, Jr. (Lora) of Lawrenceburg; Brothers,David Mason of Cincinnati & Leslie Mason of Anniston, Alabama; 8 Grandchildren.

Funeral Service 11 AM on Tuesday, January 3, 2017 at Prewitt New Castle Funeral Home. Burial will follow in New Castle Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the New Castle United Methodist Church.

Visitation will be held 5-8 PM on Monday, January 2, 2017 at Prewitt New Castle Funeral Home (prewitts.com).
