George Meyer Obituary

MEYER, GEORGE F. "JUNIE" JR., 81, of South Louisville, passed away Tuesday, February 6, 2007 at Franciscan Health Care. He was a former co-owner of G & H Television Service in the Schnitelberg and Germantown area for 27 years where everyone knew him as "Junie." He then retired from P. I. Burks Co. He also served in the Army Air Corp during World War II, where he was awarded the American Theatre Ribbon, Asiatic-Pacific Theatre Ribbon with two bronze stars, and the Phillippine Liberation Theatre Ribbon with one bronze star. He was also a member of Most Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church and Moose lodge #5. He was preceded in death by his parents, George F. and Henrietta (Neuner) Meyer Sr.; a sister, Thelma Booth; and a son-inlaw, John Ouellette. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, the former Alice Dumelding; daughters, Betty Thompson (Phil) and Janice Ouellette; a son, George F. "Buddy" Meyer III (Sherry); grandchildren, Jean Marie (Bobby), John (Jennifer), Scott (Megan), Brian (Meegan) and Jessica; great-grandchildren, Olivia, Alex and Emma. A Mass of celebration for Mr. Meyer will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday at Most Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 3509 Taylor Blvd., with burial to follow in Louisville Memorial Gardens West. Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. on Thursday at the Southern Home of Arch L. Heady & Son, 3601 Taylor Blvd. The family would like to thank all the caretakers who helped during Mr. Meyers illness. Expressions of sympathy may be made to Hospice & Palliative Care of Louisville or American Diabetes Association.
