Hubert Fields Obituary
He was preceded in death by his wife, Jean "Betty" Sheets Fields, his father, Hubert Fields Sr., his mother, Mary Warner Fields, siblings, Jewell Freeman, Eula Fields, Gerene Stevens, Gladola Barton, and Kenneth Fields. He is survived by his son, Douglas Scott Fields, a sister, Celestine Ramsaur, and a nephew, William Moody.
A native of London, KY, Dr. Fields was a graduate of Lindsey Wilson College and the University of Louisville School of Dentistry. He served in the Military Health Service living in North Carolina and later California. After serving in the Health Service, he returned to the University of Louisville School of Dentistry to teach prosthodontics. Later, he served as chairman of the Department of Prosthodontics for many years, teaching well into his 80s.
A memorial service to honor Dr. Fields will be held 3 p.m. Sunday at Pearson's, 149 Breckenridge Lane, with visitation to follow. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to WHAS Crusade for Children 520 Chestnut Street Louisville, KY 40202.

I would like to add a belated tribute to the wonderful, lifelong, friendship that Hubert and I shared. He was an exceptional person and will be missed by all of us.

Dr. Fields was one of my admired, respected and learned professors. On at least one occasion I sat next to him at a colleague's funeral and we discussed the days at the old school .....the way things used to be. My condolences to you all. Bobby Mann, DMD

Hubert and I enjoyed each other with our mutual greetings, "Well hello there, young fella'" followed by "Well hello there, old timer," or vice versa. We had mutual respect for each other, which is the way it should be. I will miss Hubert and his good humor. Rest in peace, my friend.

What a great teacher Dr. Fields was! He could relate to everyone, usually with a smile on his face. The whole dental community will mourn this man who cared for the faculty and students. His joy at everyone's success was a delight to see.
