Hello,
We realize that we are very late to express our deepest condolences, but we wanted to let your family and friends know that we will be sending Care Packages to deployed troops this month and several of these will be dedicated to your loved one. Each package will carry the name, photo and hometown of James D. Faulkner US Army Sergeant.

We realize that this is a small tribute, but we do this with all respect and sincerity and we want you to know that it is made possible by thousands of like-minded individuals from across the American youth hockey community, their families and friends and others who support our mission.

We will not forget. May God Bless you and keep you safe and strong.

Sincerely,

May 2016, where has the time gone! You have been remembered by our family since your passing - too soon you were taken.
Daniel was to marry my daughter Lisa in the summer of 2005.
I still recall the day of Lisa's call to me and her frantic screams that Daniel had been killed. The sorrow I felt from her, in words, can never be conveyed. I flew immediately to be with her.
We flew to Indiana to be with Daniels family.
Never could I have imagined after my service in the US Army at Ft Hood in the late 70's that about 25 years later would my daughter plan to marry a soldier who would be killed in action who also served at Ft. Hood.
I keep a photo of Daniel with me always and send prayers.
Lisa has not married.
You will always be remembered.

Now eleven years have passed since your light was extinguished forever. You saved my son's life by giving yours. You may not have meant to do that, but I am grateful to you. Brian is married now and has a full life. You should have had one, too.

You will always be remembered!

I was James' Casualty Assistant Officer. I never met or knew him in life, but got to know him through the duty of tending to his things. As I read the letter and looked at the pictures, I began to know the Hero. I lost two of my solders only days after this. That week was the hardest my life has ever been. Thinking of this family, years later on Memorial Day.

Hello, my name is Sergeant First Class Navarro. I never actually met Daniel. I was the medic that attended to him on that day. I still think about that day sometimes. Especially remember taking his wedding ring off, I was determined that it be safe and get back to his wife.
I was looking around the web for fallen comarades and came upon this site. I just wanted to wish yall well and God's blessings on you and your loved ones.

It has been four years ago today that you gave the ultimate sacrifice to your country.

You have gone to the Lord, but I will remember your family in my prayers.

The Wind on The Downs

“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”

(Written by Marian Allen during World War l )

Two lines that I wish you to keep near your heart…….

“You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe”

I did not know James, but I am remembering
his service. He is my hero. !

The Other Side

i'm over on the other side
where life and death softly divide.
left my skin and bones behind
now i'm over on the other side.

can you feel me there with you?
my breath is gone but i'm not through.
loved you then and i still do
from over on the other side.

i can fly. really fly.
below the earth ... all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

it's good here on the other side.
the sweetest songs...the bluest skies.
thank you for the tears you cried
but it's good here on the other side.

i can fly. really fly. below the earth...all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side

the world is smaller than a needle's eye.
where life and death softly divide.
when you leave your skin and bones behind
i'll be waiting on the other side.

i can fly. really fly. below the earth ... all through the sky.
go tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

Not a day goes by that I don't think of you, your service and your loss. My son, Brian, was driving the Humvee with you and was critically injured. But if you hadn't made the greatest sacrifice of taking the brunt of the IED, he would have been killed.

God bless you in heaven and your family on Earth.

You are remembered and respected. Thank you Sgt Faulkner!

August 13, 2007

There is nothing that I can say or do to take away the pain or bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer you and your family my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.

Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.

I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON, a dear family friend (KIA on 07/06/07) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.

REST IN PEACE, HERO, YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN!!

Remembering "Dan the man" this Veteran's Day weekend.

Our hearts go out to Daniel's family & friends, Greg...I/we continue to share Daniel's story everywhere & every time we perform.

Daniel's sacrifice will NEVER be forgotten...on behalf of a grateful nation...Dan,
"Thank YOU soldier!"

It's because of the bravery & courage of men & women like Daniel, that I & my family, and all of America have enjoyed the freedoms we've been blessed with in my lifetime.

I know the "cost" of freedom...
"FREEDOM is NEVER free!"

I lost my cousin Guy Lamar Mears, Jr. (20) in Vietnam. I was only 16. Guy's loss had a profound influence on my life, thus began my deep Patriotism & love for this GREAT NATION!

In remembrance of Daniel, allow me to share the lyrics below to the song I wrote ... inspired by the life of Daniel, and comments of family & friends.

"Her Hometown Heroes"
( Daniel's Song )

They were young,
But, they stood tall.
And, They were the BEST of us,ALL !

America's sons & daughters,

Marching on ... to a Higher call
Our "Hometown Heroes" ... Rise ... Fall,
Paving the way ... to Liberty
Defending ... Freedom's Ring!

( Chorus )

They were ... the BEST
That, she had ... to give!
Our "Hometown Heroes"
Who had barely ... begun ... to live.

When, they heard ... a Higher call
"Her Hometown Heroes" ... Rose up, one & ALL !

They were ... the BEST !

And, when ... they heard ... a Higher call

I have known the Liter family all of my life and know them to be a close, loving and God fearing family. As a neighbor, I have watched the Faulkner children grow up to all be good students, athletes and just good people that love and respect their family and friends. God bless you all and may you feel God's peace and love. As a mother, I cannot imagine the pain of losing a child, but at the same time how proud you must be of him that he gave his life for our protection. Thank you so much Daniel for your sacrifice. Daniel has been one of my best friends since the beginning of our first school years. I feel extremely lucky to have been so close to him throughout the years and to have all the many wonderful memories of times shared...from the grade school playtimes, to middle school dances, to high school classes/sports/and prom- he has always been a major part of the special times I've had. Daniel was a great guy. I only wish we could've stayed closer after high school. I never have known anyone that would go out of their way more than Daniel, to make sure that everyone else was ok before thinking of himself. He was a great friend, brother, and son, and will be missed deeply. We are all lucky to have known Daniel, and to have had him a part of our lives, be it big or small.

My heart goes out to the family at this time of loss. No words can express how you must feel. Just know that if you need anything at all, please do not hesitate to ask. I'm here for you all.

We had the pleasure of watching Daniel grow up--he was in the same grade with our daughter, Emily Hentrup, from grade school to graduation. We have some great pictures of when he took her to their junior prom. We also had the great pleasure of being able to watch and cheer for "Dan the man" -- as we called him -- when he ran cross country. He was a great guy & we will always remember him with a smile.
