James Stanford Obituary
He was born March 1, 1939 in Clay County, TN to the late James Alex Stanford and Cordelia Hurd Stanford. He began his teaching career in 1962-1963 school with Monroe County Board of Education. He served as teacher, assistant coach, head coach, assistant principal of Tompkinsville High School, principal of Tompkinsville High School and principal of Monroe County High School, financial director and assistant superintendent of Monroe County Schools. He retired in 2004 with 42 years of service. He was a member of Lyons Chapel Church of Christ. He was united in marriage on August 8, 1964 to Jane Binnion Stanford.
He is survived by his wife, Jane Binnion Stanford; three daughters and sons-in-law, Jamie Stanford Conkin and Steve Conkin, Cheryl and Jamie Thompson and Lindsay and Billy Joe Boyles; and three grandchildren, James Brady Thompson, Nolan Joseph Boyles and Nicholas Stanford Boyles, all of Tompkinsville.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 2p.m. at Strode Funeral Home in Tompkinsville with burial to follow in Monroe County Memorial Lawn. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. Sunday at Strode Funeral Home in Tompkinsville.
Memorials are suggested to the Lyons Chapel Church of Christ or Hosparus of Bowling Green.
