Joseph Vittitow Obituary

BARDSTOWN VITTITOW, JOSEPH, "MELVIN," 73, formerly of New Haven, KY, passed away Thursday, July 7, 2005, at University of Louisville Hospital in Louisville. "He was known as a kind and gentle man." He was born January 31, 1932, the son of the late Floyd Vittitow and Anna Viola Willett Vittitow. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Culvertown. As a young man he worked building and remodeling homes. He retired from the Vittitow's Tavern in Louisville, after 30 years of service and was a Navy veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was preceded in death by a son, Anthony Craig Vittitow; a daughter, Janice Vittitow; six brothers, Albert, Ernest, Bobby, Pat, Joseph, Harold and Joseph Raymond Vittitow; and a sister, Oneida Divallo. He is survived by his companion, Anna Vittitow of Bardstown; two sons, Mark Vittitow of Louisville, and Tom Vittitow of Brandenburg; a daughter, Denise Vittitow Wrenn of Louisville; five brothers, Jack and Jr. Vittitow, both of New Haven, and Louis, Billy and Roger Vittitow, all of Louisville; five sisters, Juanita Roby and Louise Nalley, both of Bardstown, Joan Dalesandro of New Jersey, Frankye Brinkmeirer of Illinois and Sherry Embry of Louisville; five grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, July 11, 2005, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Culvertown, KY, with Father Lawrence H. Lindle officiating. Burial will be in St. Thomas Catholic Church Cemetery in Bardstown. Visitation will be held from 3-9 p.m. Sunday July 10, 2005, and after 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 11, 2205, at William R. Rust Funeral Home in New Haven. A prayer service will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday in the the chapel at the funeral home.
