Juanita Whirley "Nita" Culbertson

Culbertson, Juanita "Nita" Whirley,

85, returned quietly to her heavenly Father Wednesday, August 5, 2015. She was born July 29, 1930, in Hancock, MD, the daughter of Charles and Mary Whirley.

In High School, Nita enjoyed athletics. She graduated from Sherwood High School, Sherwood, Maryland. She met the love of her life at choir practice when she was 18 years old. Paul and Nita married June 11, 1952 and together built their first home in Darnestown, Maryland. As a loving Wife, Mother, and Grandmother she made their homes places of warmth and comfort. Nita was loved by all who met her and made friends quickly through her kind and understanding ways. She showed her love through her gift of cooking and entertaining, making holidays and other special occasions memorable for her family and friends. Besides her gift of cooking and entertaining, she was an avid bridge player.

In addition to raising their two children, Nita unselfishly provided her time as a

caregiver to her elderly friends and family. She was a member of the Pewee Valley Presbyterian Church in Pewee Valley, KY.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 63 years, Paul Trauger Culbertson Jr.; her children, Julyanne Culbertson, Paul T. Culbertson III; and her grandchildren, Benjamin Culbertson, Alexandra Reinke, and Meredith Culbertson.

A service of remembrance and celebration of her life will be held at Pewee Valley Presbyterian Church on August 15, 2015 at 10:30 a.m.
