Michael Blair Obituary

Blair, Michael L.,

67, of Louisville, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, June 28, 2016 from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident.

He was born September 23, 1948 in Louisville, a son of the late Lynn Schultz Blair and Mary Elizabeth Fothergill Blair. Michael was a carpenter and worked for Reynolds Metals for over 30 years, until his retirement in 2007.

He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, but most of all, a man of integrity.

Michael loved his garden. He could build anything out of wood and had special musical talents, he played the spoons and the harmonica.

His true passion was his family. Michael valued his time at family gatherings and would take his "girls" (canine companions) out in his convertible and ride them around the park. Saturdays at his home were labeled as "Grandpa Saturdays."

In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his two brothers, Pat and Tim Blair.

He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Libby Culver Blair; children, Shawn Blair and Staci and Dennis Mitchell; five grandchildren, Taylor and Morgan Blair, Caitlyn, Nicholas and Elizabeth Thompson; his sister, Tammy Blair Murray (Jimmy Shipley); sister-in-law, Michelle Culver and last but definitely not least, his beloved canine companion, Amy.

Visitation will be from 2-8 pm on Friday, July 1, 2016 at Ratterman Funeral Home, 12900 Shelbyville Road, East Louisville.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions in Michael's name be made to Crusade for Children.
