I wanted to let you know how much Michael meant to me: his humor, his willingness to share his knowledge and experience, and his delightful friendship. We worked together during the years 1990-1995; he is still in my thoughts as one of my most appreciated colleagues. His 50 years on Earth were a blessing to all. Yours truly,

Mike was a great man and attorney. I use to tell him that he was the "Marine" of the office because he was always the first to arrive and the last to leave. He was that dedicated. His dedication manisted in other ways, too. He almost always hired newer attorneys because he enjoyed working with them so much, and he wanted to teach them how to excel. I admired that very much. He was also glad to help old salts like me when we had strategy questions. Mike will certainly be missed.

To the Harned family,
I worked with Mike at the Office of the Attorrney General for nearly 14 years. I had tremendous admiration and respect for Mike, both as an attorney and an individual. Mike always had a smile on his face and always had time to discuss a legal issue or help out with a moot court or whatever was needed. He helped me hang pictures and diplomas in my office when I changed offices; he even let me borrow Will's DVD player so I could watch trial tapes once when I went on a trip. He gave valuable advice and his contribution to this office was significant. In addtion, he headed up the planning on many of our office events. He made us better lawyers and helped to make our way more fun. He will always be missed by those of us whose lives he touched for so many years. My thoughts and prayers remain with your family. May God bless you.

To all of Mike's family,
Many prayers and thoughts will be with your entire family for a long time. I worked with Mike while at the AG's office, but he became a good friend to me and we have remained friends even as I changed to the Labor office. He gave us humor when we needed it, care and support at other times, encouraged participation in events, and was just a wonderful example of kindness. Will, your dad will continue to guide you in your life; let those good memories fill your heart and mind. I can share your pain as this occurred in my own family (my brother). The love of God and others will sustain you, today and every day.

Dear Colleen, Will, and all of Mike's family:
Mike was my manager at the AG's office. I considered him a friend and was grateful to have such a kind, funny, encouraging, and empathetic boss. He would always ask how my wife and I were doing, was genuinely interested in my life inside and outside of work, and he would always stop what he was doing to help any of us with whatever we needed. Taco Tuesdays will never be the same without Mike.
You are in my prayers. May God give you comfort in your time of mourning.

Colleen -
I am so very sorry to hear of Mike's passing. We shared many many happy times together and he taught me so much. One of my fondest memories is how happy he was the day we shopped for your engagement ring!
As a lawyer, Mike was second to none. He taught me so much. His contribution to the law in this state is huge. He won cases some of us thought were hopeless and what that did for crime victims in Kentucky can never be quantified. He has left behind a huge legacy.
Again, I am so terribly sorry for your loss. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family through this difficult time. God bless.
